Movie Review

Watchmen

After originally seeing the trailer for the Watchmen, I understood immediately that this was not going to be a movie about the Watchmen, it was going to be a tribute to the Watchmen comic, and upon finally seeing it, I believe it succeeded in doing just that.

The one thing the Watchmen comic book is known for, is that it has a lot of recognition: the only comic book to win a Hugo award, The only comic to be put on Time Magazine's best 100 novels of the 20th century, and overtly loved by comic geeks everywhere. This is primarily what the movie has going for it as well.

T Shirt Design

Check out the current issue of TIME Magazine [2/23/09]. On page 101, within  Richard Corliss' article 'How the Oscars Became the Emmys', he includes a 2009 Oscar Ballot with his selections and notes written on it.

Though he didn't pick Milk to win for Costume Design, he did make a note that it has 'Best T-Shirts'! Let's be honest, now. I'm sure it was a condescending knock on the fantastic work done for the film. His way of saying, "Costume design? What costumes design? They all wore Tshirts!"

Welcome Alexandra Zaripov!

Producer

It's been many, many years of working solo in this big crazy world of motion graphics design, and the time has come where I must ask for help -- and that call was answered!

I'd like to introduce you to the newest addition to the ATOMIC ROCKET, Alexandra Zaripov. She brings her experience in project management in Video Game development from the exotic locale of Chicago, Il to sunny Hollywood, CA.

As Atomic Rocket Production's first ever dedicated Producer her responsibilities will include brain storming and pitching creative ideas for each project, executing any and all 'real world' (non-digital) production needs, crafting communication channels for each job, managing schedules and making sure everyone is staying on track!

MILK Oscar Nomination

Costume Design

I just got word -- WAY late, because I'm an awful person and don't pay attention to these things myself -- that the fabulously talented Costume Designer, Danny Glicker [ IMDB ], has been nominated for his work on Milk!

It was already  a privilege to work on the project, let alone to work with my friend Danny. But now Danny's recognition for this work takes it to a whole new level. Congratulations Danny, and thanks for letting me contribute my small part to your big vision. Good luck!
